WHC conducts biennial online tournaments designed
by WHC Policy Director with special interest in Japan, Mitsugu Abe of
Japan.
The first game was conducted as a prototype of forthcoming events on WHC's
flagship mailing list, WHChaikuforum in February 2001. Members watched in the
role of spectator - judge whilst 10 knights on 2 teams contested for the cup.
Led by Captain, John Bird of the White
Rose Society and Captain, Mary Lee McClure of the Order
of the Red Rose, and refereed by Umpire, WHC Chairman, Susumu
Takiguchi, the two teams competed for votes with a volley of 30 haiku in 3
categories: "Sky," "Water," and "Free Choice,"
amid volleys of lighthearted jousting of poetry and wit. A jolly good time
was had by all. (Click hyperlinks to read the haiku of both teams.)
